Xiaomi unveiled electric sedan - SU7 & SU7 Max

Xiaomi, the tech giant renowned for its smartphones, has now ventured into the world of electric vehicles (EVs). The much-anticipated Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan has finally been unveiled, marking the company's official entry into the automotive industry. This innovative car, a result of Xiaomi's 10 billion yuan investment in its car manufacturing business announced nearly three years ago, is set to redefine the EV landscape with its impressive features and cutting-edge technology.

Power and Performance

The Xiaomi SU7 comes in two versions: the SU7 and the SU7 Max. The base model, SU7, features rear-wheel drive (RWD) powered by Xiaomi's in-house V6 engine. It boasts a maximum power of 220 kW, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.28 seconds, and provides a substantial range of 668 km under the CLTC standard.

On the other hand, the performance-oriented SU7 Max, equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD) and dual motors, delivers an exceptional 425 kW of power. With a lightning-fast acceleration of 0-100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds and a top speed of 265 km/h, this model is set to thrill enthusiasts. Its CATL Qilin NMC battery with a capacity of 101 kWh ensures an impressive 800 km range.

Rapid Charging and Aerodynamic Design

The SU7 boasts impressive charging capabilities, surpassing even the Tesla Model S Plaid. It can recharge 390 km in just 10 minutes, making it incredibly convenient for drivers on the go. The car's aerodynamic design, with a drag coefficient of only 0.195 Cd (the lowest among production vehicles), enhances both efficiency and performance.

Innovative Features and Design

Designed under the guidance of automotive experts, including Li Tianyuan from BMW and James Qiu from Mercedes-Benz, the SU7 reflects top-notch craftsmanship. Inside, a 16.1″ central control screen with 3k resolution, along with advanced driver-assistance systems powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon and Nvidia chips, promises an immersive and safe driving experience.

Connectivity and Integration

The car's operating system, HyperOS, will integrate seamlessly with Xiaomi's vast ecosystem, offering unparalleled connectivity. From mirroring your phone or tablet to easy pairing with Xiaomi gadgets like Mi Watch, Mi Band, and Mi Home devices, the SU7 ensures a highly integrated user experience. Furthermore, it's designed to work impressively even with Apple products.

Towards a Future in Automotives

CEO Lei Jun envisions Xiaomi among the top 5 car companies globally in the next 15-20 years. With the SU7 poised to compete with renowned models like the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S, Xiaomi aims to set new standards in the automotive industry. While the pricing remains undisclosed, speculations suggest a starting price under 300,000 yuan (42,500 USD) for the base model.

The Road Ahead

Mass production of the Xiaomi SU7 is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2024, promising an exciting journey into the future of electric mobility. Stay tuned for updates as Xiaomi pioneers its way into the automotive world.
