Charging Ahead: Ultraviolet EV Unveils X44 - A New Era of Affordable Electric Thrills

UltraViolet Automotive, a new electric vehicle business, has received backing from popular Malayali actor Dulquer Salmaan, who not only launched the first dealership in Bengaluru but also actively promotes the brand on his social media platforms. Six years ago, the business made its market debut with the F77 performance electric motorcycle. The pricing of the motorcycle elicited conflicting reactions: while some devotees waited with bated breath for a fighter jet-inspired e-bike, some who considered the flagship model's price unaffordable found solace in the new advancement.

The Bengaluru-based startup has begun the process of trademarking the name 'X44,' sparking concerns about its potential use for their next electric motorcycle. Although the Ultraviolet F77 has already been released this year, the Ultraviolet X44's design and categorization remain unknown. This forthcoming model, however, is expected to cater to budget-conscious consumers, showing the brand's intention to appeal to a wider audience. The F77, which starts at Rs. 3.80 lakh, is now Ultraviolet's premier offering.

The Ultraviolet EV is powered by a powerful 10.7 kWh battery pack with passive cooling capability. With a powerful 40.2 horsepower and a peak torque of 100 Nm, it boasts a range of up to 307 km on a single charge and can accelerate from 0 to 100 Kmph in 7.8 seconds. Glide, Combat, and Ballistic are the three riding modes available on the bike. Dulquer Salmaan received the first special edition of the Ultraviolet F77, available at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 75.50 lakh and restricted to 77 units.

Recognising that the bulk of India's middle-class population may find the current electric bike costs prohibitively expensive, Ultraviolet appears to have recognised the significance of broadening its offers. To appeal to this market, the company is planning to launch an affordable electric motorcycle, most likely priced between Rs. 2 lakh and Rs. 2.25 lakh. Ultraviolet hopes to bridge the gap between premium and mass-market electric bikes by following this strategy. There are also rumours that the Ultraviolet X44 could be a name for an electric adventure motorcycle.

The rumoured Ultraviolet X44 model is expected to have an adventurous aesthetic, with fresh bodywork, unusual styling, increased suspension travel, and spoked wheels, while incorporating the technical base of the F77. While these speculations abound, a better picture of Ultraviolet's future endeavours will emerge over time. In the meantime, the trademark application for the X44 title shows the company's dedication to a significant endeavour.
