Yogi sarkar surprised by free road tax and registration fee. Subsidy up to 20 lakhs

The Uttar Pradesh government is trying to speed up the sale of battery-powered vehicles in the state.  As part of this, the government has now released the Electric Vehicle Policy for 2022.  The government has focused on various factors to attract investment for manufacturing, charging fees and providing incentives to consumers who opt for the battery-powered mobility option.

The biggest announcement in the Uttar Pradesh EV policy is the decision to provide 100 percent exemption on road tax and registration fees on the purchase of all segment EVs within the first three years of the new policy being effective.  The new EV policy also promises to extend this exemption even for a fourth or fifth year if the electric vehicle in question is manufactured in Uttar Pradesh itself.

There is also 15 percent subsidy on factory cost for purchase of electric two-wheelers.  According to this, a maximum subsidy of Rs 5,000 per vehicle will also be available.  This offer is subject to the first two lakh EVs purchased.  On the purchase of an electric car, there is also a subsidy of up to Rs 1 lakh subject to the first 25,000 vehicles sold.  For electric three-wheelers, there is a subsidy of up to Rs 12,000 for the first 50,000 units.  Meanwhile, the first 400 units of electric buses will get a subsidy of up to Rs 20 lakh.

The new EV policy also gives great importance to infrastructure development for electric vehicles.  The new EV policy also offers a special incentive to the first 2,000 charging station service providers in the state to promote charging infrastructure with capital subsidy and develop charging and battery swapping facilities across the state.  According to this, a charging station can get a maximum of Rs 10 lakh.  As part of the policy, the UP government is also offering capital subsidy of up to Rs 5 lakh for the first 1,000 battery swapping stations in the state.

The overall objective of the UP government's new electric vehicle policy is to promote an environment-friendly transport system in the state.  Meanwhile, the policy aims to make Uttar Pradesh a global hub for EV manufacturing, attract investment of over Rs 30,000 crore and create direct and indirect employment for over one million people.
