The four main electric vehicles that will be released in the upcoming months

In recent years, the Indian EV (Electric Vehicle) sector has seen rapid growth, attracting global firms. Our auto market will witness four major EV launches over the next four months, ranging from affordable hatchbacks to SUVs and premium crossovers. A few key details about upcoming electric vehicles are provided below.

1.) Tata Tiago
Towards the end of 2022, the Tata Tiago EV will make its showroom debut. It is estimated that the electric hatchback will cost about Rs 10 lakh. As announced by the automaker, the car will have a regenerative braking system and cruise control that can be adjusted. Most of its design elements and features will be similar to the regular model. .there will be some EV specific changes inside and out, although its official specifications have not been announced. Reports indicate that the Tiago EV will come with a 26 KWh battery pack and a 75 PS electric motor and its electric range will be approximately 300 km.

2.) BYD ATO 3

BYD Atto 3, the new electric SUV from the Chinese EV maker, will be released on October 11, 2022. Here, it will compete against the MG ZS EV. It is expected to be priced between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 35 lakh. The length of Atto 3 is 4455mm. Thus making it the longest EV in its segment. The new BYD electric SUV comes in two battery pack options – 49.92kWh and 60.48kWh – giving a range of 345km and 420km (WLTP-certified) respectively. It will be available with three charging options.

3.) Hyundai Ioniq 5

The South Korean carmaker has already confirmed that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover will be launched in the second half of 2022. The model underpins the E-GMP architecture and is available globally with single and dual-motor (with AWD) setup. The former produces 169 bhp of power at 350 Nm of torque while the latter delivers 306 bhp with 605 Nm of torque. It comes with a 72.6kWh band 58kWh battery pack option and offers a range of 481km and 385km (on the WLTP cycle) respectively.

4.) Mahindra XUV400

The Mahindra XUV400 will be the first major electric car launch next year. The company revealed that the electric SUV will go on sale by the end of January 2023. It will be rolled out across the country in a phased manner. The powertrain setup of the new Mahindra Electric SUV includes a 39.5kWh battery pack that produces 148bhp of power and 310Nm of torque. It has a battery pack that offers a range of 456 km (as per MIDC) on a full charge. The XUV400 can reach a top speed of 150 kmph.
