Overview of the BMW CE 02:

The CE 02, not quite an e-scooter nor a full-fledged e-motorbike, offers versatility with an 11kW version requiring a bike license and a 4kW variant accessible to unlicensed 16-year-olds in many countries. Weighing in at 132kg, it presents itself as a nimble and robust city machine.

Performance Specifications:

The 4kW version caters to younger riders, boasting a top speed of 45km/h and a range of 45km. On the other hand, the 11kW variant accelerates from 0 to 50km/h in three seconds, reaching a top speed of 95km/h with a more substantial range of 90km. Both versions share a torque of 55Nm.

Unique Design and Features:

The CE 02 stands out with its distinctive design, featuring 14-inch die-cast alloy wheels, a tube-steel chassis, and a single-sided cast-aluminum swing-arm rear suspension. The instrument layout comprises a 3.5-inch TFT screen providing information on speed, battery charge, navigation, and more. A USB-C socket allows for smartphone charging, and an accompanying app informs owners about the charging progress.

Manufacturing Partnership with TVS Motor:

The collaboration between BMW and TVS Motor has reached a significant milestone with the commencement of CE 02 production at TVS's Hosur plant in India. This long-standing partnership has not only resulted in the manufacturing of BMW's electric two-wheeler but also involves joint development of new platforms and future technologies, emphasizing electric vehicles.

Despite its global appeal, the CE 02 faced challenges in Australia due to design rules, limiting its road use. The pricing strategy, with the 11kW version costing around two-thirds of the CE 04, targets a specific demographic, even though the 4kW version offers a more budget-friendly option.

While the CE 02 is lauded for its agility and robustness in urban conditions, its charging rates may pose a challenge for some users. The 11kW version takes 312 minutes for a full charge on a 0.9kW charger, with a faster 210 minutes on the 1.5kW version.
