In January 2023, Maruti Suzuki introduced its very first concept electric car, known as the eVX, at the Greater Noida Auto Expo.
Maruti had made some notable update to this electric vehicle which will be unveiled at the Auto show in Tokyo Japan on September 26.
1. Improved Looks and Features:
- Maruti Suzuki's eVX has undergone improvements in its appearance and features.
- Notable updates include new LED lights and a redesigned front grille.
2. Dimensions of the Electric SUV:
- The electric SUV measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height.
- Changes are also been made to the placement of lights and wing mirrors.
3. Battery Details and Range:
- The exact size of the electric SUV's battery remains undisclosed.
- During the Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki claimed it could cover approximately 550 kilometers on a single charge.
- However, pricing details and other specifications are yet to be revealed.
Maruti Suzuki's Shift Towards Electric Vehicles:
- Maruti Suzuki is focusing on making more electric vehicles rather than those running on alternative fuels like ethanol or hydrogen.
- Even though the company's chairman, R.C. Bhargava, believes India should explore hydrogen fuel cells and hybrid cars instead of electric ones.
“Electric vehicles will not become a major product in the market and the reason is that the small car component of the total market is still very large at around 70 per cent or so. It is not going to be very easy for electric vehicles to penetrate,”
